CWI's mission is to meet customers' needs by supplying high quality wire products at competitive prices with predictable service.

CWI's Wire Products Division converts process wire to produce a wide variety of fencing and fastening products. The primary markets served are farmers (agricultural co-operatives), builders (hardware outlets), mines, fencing contractors and various state departments. Products include nails, mesh fencing, barbed wire, high-tensile fencing wire, and wire for baling and binding.

Wire mesh secures mine tunnels, wire netting protects sheep and ostriches. Barbed wire encloses livestock and game, while high-tensile wire trellises grapes.Most products have practical applications, such as protecting, enclosing and fastening. A range of nails are manufactured for use by formal and informal builders throughout Southern Africa.

CWI's high-tensile Veldspan7 wire is one of the best known products in its field and is used by various Parks Boards to fence nature reserves.

The Wire Products Division provides an advisory service to farmers involving fence erection, repair and maintenance and training of farm labourers. A technical advisory service is provided by experienced CWI personnel.

CWI's Fine Wire Division manufactures products from wire produced by the Wire Products Division.These products include broad flat stitching wire, galvanised round stitching wire staple and general purpose industrial wire, as well as welding wire.

The process Wire Division pickles, draws and galvanises mild steel wire rod from Iscor and Scaw Metals into black and galvanised wire in bulk, for various applications. Wire is produced in coils of 100 to 1000 kg weight and standard diameters. Bulk wire is sold to both export and local markets, as well as to CWI's Wire Products and Fine Wire divisions. Bulk wire is the starting point for a variety of uses in every day life.

Products made from CWI's bulk wire are used for:

* Holding (food and drink on refrigerator shelves)
* Protecting (diamond mesh security fencing)
* Baling (paper-pulp and waste paper)
* Fastening (screws, nails, chains) and
* Providing energy (cable armouring).
