Kappa Engineering (Pty) Ltd, a company situated in the Knights Industrial Area of Germiston is a general engineering company specialising in the manufacture, repair and assembling of hydraulic cylinders for a variety of applications in the mining, construction, transport, civil engineering, and agricultural fields. Kappa Engineering also does fabrication of engineering products.

Kappa Engineering was founded by Mr. G J Hauptfleisch in 1987.

The product range of Kappa is as follows:
- Hydraulic cylinders, new and reconditioned
- General and prescision engineering

Major customers in South Africa, includes most of the mining houses such as JCI, Goldfields and Impala Platinum.
Our technical capabilities are enhanced during the engineering process in the use of centre lathes which enable the company to turn small, up to 9m long precision components in materials from rubber and plastics to high tensile tool processing. These lathes enable the company to bore inside diameters up to 550mm and lengths up to 5m, obviously the smaller diameters are restricted in length.

Over and above the turning facility, the company makes use of milling machines and a radial drill for material up to 2m.

The company also has computerised numerical controlled machining facility including CNC lathes and 5 axis machining centres.

Coded ASME welders are used for all welding on hydraulic cylinders and fabrications.

During 1991 we were accepted onto the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) 'Listing Scheme'. Kappa Engineering also complies with the International Standard ISO 9001.

Our fabrications have been tried and tested in the Gold, Coal and Platinum mining as well as the Iron, Steel, Food and Textile industries to name but a few.
