Transvaal Electric, an electrical engineering company founded in 1939, is engaged in the design, development, manufacture, repairs and servicing of rotating electrical machines.

Over the past 50 years, the company has produced a wide range of electrical products, but has recently concentrated on AC and DC electric motors for mining and industry. These motors are to some extent custom built.

Typical products include mining machinery motors, flameproof motors, hoist motors, standard DC drive motors, DC generators, locomotive motors, compressor motors, and speed application motors engineered to customer requirements.
