Bowman have been asked by many of their customers if the facility exists to clean out the cooling water tubes of their larger heat exchangers without disturbing the shell circuit fluid. As a result Bowman have developed a double seal retaining flange which fits between the end cover and the body of the heat exchanger and allows the cooling water side to be cleaned without disturbing the shell side circuit.

This prevents wastage of oil from the shell side circuit whereas previously the oil would have to be replaced when cleaning the cooling water tubes. It also cuts down maintenance time allowing companies to get back on line and into production quicker.

The double seal retaining flange would be particularly advantageous for hydraulic systems where frequent maintenance is specified and for those hydraulic systems that use river, pond or dirty cooling water or have poor filtration.
