Manitou Southern Africa, leading manufacturer and supplier of rough terrain equipment, will supply 8 of its machines to the Bombela Consortium for use on the Gautrain Project. The deal, valued in excess of R7m, was awarded to one of Manitou’s BEE accredited independent dealers, Dezzo Equipment.
The company has already supplied 7 of the 8 series telescopic handlers. The range features a number of attachments, including buckets for loading, forks for handling, fixed jibs for sling handling and a cage for lifting people for maintenance jobs.
According to Lindsay Shankland, Manitou CEO, the range also offers all terrain capabilities, enhanced safety and compact design. “With these features the machines are ideal for construction and public works. The telehandlers supplied have reaches of 6, 14, and 17m and coupled with the other capabilities, are extremely versatile and reliable.”
The deal includes a service contract, including regular site visits and machine inspections, with a guaranteed buy-back option
Dezzo Equipment, appointed in 2006, is an exclusive distributor of the Manitou product range and is receiving training and support from Manitou SA. “We are receiving training in administration, tender completion, machine familiarisation, maintenance, equipment operation, parts ordering and management, as well as technical training,” says Rebecca Mmako, Director, Dezzo Equipment.
The company is focusing on specific industries and sectors of the economy such as government or state owned enterprises, municipalities, and the mining sector.
“We see this latest tender win as a confidence booster for the company and will continue to strive toward achieving the excellent customer service, level of support and technical back-up that Manitou is renowned for,” concludes Mmako.
